Bayero University Kano has announced the reopening of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving eligible students another opportunity to apply for the student loan scheme.
The development was disclosed in a special bulletin issued on Saturday in Kano and signed by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, on behalf of the Registrar.
According to Garba, the decision to reopen the portal followed a request by the university management to enable students who have completed their screening exercise to finalize their applications.
He stated that the application window opened on May 8 and will close on May 29, urging students to take advantage of what he described as a final opportunity.
“The reopening of the NELFUND portal provides a final opportunity for eligible students who have completed their screening to commence and complete their applications,” the statement read.
The university advised applicants to carefully follow all guidelines and upload the required documents to avoid delays or possible disqualification.
Garba further noted that applications for institutional charges and upkeep must be submitted simultaneously, warning that separate applications may not be processed.
He also cautioned students against using microfinance wallet accounts during the application process.
Applicants were equally advised to provide valid and accessible email addresses and ensure they keep their passwords safe, as they would be needed to monitor application status on the portal.
The university called on all qualified students to complete their applications before the May 29 deadline.
